I bought a nice pair of neoprene Columbia Hunting boots and within a month the rubber toe on both shoes completely cracked. Maybe a fluke I thought so I called. They said no problem send them in. I filled out the form sent them in and they just returned them in the same box without even looking at them. Just wrote over my label and even left the warranty paperwork in the box. Some customer service. I have a lot of their stuff but never again. I emailed Leupold because when I went into the hospital my BIL was cleaning up and lost one piece of a set of rings. I asked to buy the one piece so I didn't have to waste the set and they sent me a whole new ring set free. Refused to let me pay. I had a seat tear on my Summit climber that was a year old and called them about it. They sent me whole set of padding and seat for free without me even being able to pay for it. Columbia needs to get their stuff together. No note explaining anything at all. The lady originally on the phone was very polite but then no service afterwards. There is too much competition in the performance clothing market for me to bother with them again. Too bad because I buy their gear for traveling and had bought quite abit to go to Alaska. Now going to Marmot and not looking back.

Did you call them back and tell them what happened? Things happen. Maybe they don't know there is a problem with their service. If it's not reported, they can't fix it. Again, if you haven't called them back and talked to them about it they can't fix it. =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= DRSS; NRA; Illinois State Rifle Association; Missouri Sport Shooting Association “One of the sad signs of our times is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce, and canonized those who complain.” – Thomas Sowell, “The Vision Of The Anointed: Self-Congratulation As A Basis For Social Policy” .

I can't say anything about Columbia but I do have a few suggestions. First, tell the company exactly what is wrong and exactly what you expect them to do about it. Don't assume they know what you want; always spell it out. Second, ask the customer service rep if you need to put a RMA (returned material authorization) number or other notation on the outside of the package. If a box just shows up in the receiving department the minimium wage idiots might not know what to do with it. Third (and most important,) NEVER tell the company that you're not going to do any future business with them - even if that's the case. If they figure they've already lost a customer they won't go out of their way to make things right. Make it sound like you want to remain a customer and successful resolution of the issue at hand is the key to doing so. No longer Bigasanelk

If so, they sell an awful lot of crap in places like Bass Pro Shop, Cabelas, Sportman's Warehouse, etc. Seems to me if that were the case, those big stores wouldn't support their products. I'd send the boots back requesting them to make things right. Graybird "Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after ... it's the reckoning."

I had 2 pairs of Columbia boots about 10 years ago. They were advertised as "water proof" but both leaked like sieves. I had purchased them from The Sportsman's Warehouse so it was no problem getting a refund. I told myself then that I would not waste my time with Columbia again. I think their focus is on great advertising and not on producing quailty products. Just my $.02 Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

Perhaps your box got inadvertently placed in the "outbound" bin before it got processed. Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue. What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not. 10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact. 11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores. 12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

My contacts told me the company was sold off awhile back. Several I knew that were employed there (located in the barrios of Portland) told me the old war wagon that owned the place was not real pleasant to be around. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gert_Boyle I purchased several of their high end jackets and bibs for yachting only to have the snaps break off at the stem. I fixed them myself. Other than that the jackets and bibs were really nice.

gent's couple of key points. Columbia is a public company and has been for at least 5 years. They have not been sold. They also have a line of camo outerwear, so its unlikly they are anti gun. Columbia also owns Sorel and Mountainhardwear. I own gear from all three brands. Great stuff. Have always had a good customer experience with this company. Hope you have worked out your issues. Apologizes for the inaccurate statement in lieu of having a senior moment and lack of sleep. Columbia bought Mountain Hardware and Sorel Boots along with one more as the name escapes me. So yes you are correct.

Last week I contacted RCBS for a couple die parts and they immediately sent it to me for free. Thorns in fingers and hands, cuts in arms and legs, blisters in feets, happiness in me.
