| It ain't the West, but you can hunt hogs in FL year round and the fishing is pretty good in the Gulf right now. There are also several places you can hunt exotics and I'm pretty sure you can do gator year round on private property too. Won't be too long and turkey season opens and FL is the only place you can get an Osceola gobbler. |

| Like Genadier said, pigs in Cal and most are near wine country and beaches. The wife and kids can go play while you have a hunt.

| SW Texas for hogs and Aoudad. Lots of free range Aoudad along with feral hogs and javelina. This is also an option for SE New Mexico next year. MTG |

| Thanks guys. I think it will be a trip to Texas. Once April rolls around we'll have Turkey here in WA and then spring bear so I can do some short trips closer to home. Thinking of doing a longer one this summer to Forida. The kids can go to Disney world and I can go Gator hunting. Maybe doing a few stops on the way there and back as well. Maybe New Orleans and somewhere in Texas again.
I went to California for boar and Turkey last spring. None of us even saw a pig. I got a turkey but pig is what I really wanted. All the reports I read about California, particularly northern California, indicate low numbers... I'm ready to try Texas. Anyone want to recommend a place? |

| Unfortunately I am not an archer. The buffalo is interesting but for this trip I think I'll try to find something that is more on the way to or from Texas. Thanks for the tips, I do appreciate it. |

| If you went pig hunting in Ca and never saw a pig you went to the wrong place!

| Places in Texas (and most likely anywhere else) that guarantee a pig will be "put and take" places. Just be aware if that is an issue for you. Pigs can be numerous, but can be entirely nocturnal; or they just don't happen to come by where you're hunting. The last weekend of the regular Texas deer season we were overrun by hogs and shot 5 big ones while deer hunting (out of 40 or so that we saw). But we could just as easily have seen none or a bunch more: See this New Year's Eve video taken by my hunting partner's son: https://www.facebook.com/SakoSource (third post down). It is legal to hunt pigs in Texas 24/7/365, so you may have better luck if you are willing to hunt after dark using artificial light. There are getting to be lots of "pig outfitters" in Texas. Some of them are quite serious, professional, and even affordable. Others are baling wire and duct tape types, so be sure to research references. It can be a bit pricey, but if you want to hunt pigs, whitetails, and javelinas (plus a chance at coyotes, etc.) many South Texas ranches are under the Managed Lands program which allows them to hunt deer through February. Actually, some of those Managed Lands places have difficulty getting enough does killed, so a doe hunt might be fairly economical. |

| Javelinas on one of the reservations in Arizona are a fun, cheap hunt for this time of year. |

| My wife shot a cow elk in TEXAS 2 weeks ago, free-range/fair-chase on a 500.000 acre ranch. Elk are considered exotics in Tx & huntable year-round , they are common on West Tx ranches. Google it. The cow hunts are wayyy cheaper than bull hunts, of course! |

| Skibum, I had actually planned to do that! Came to my senses though and on Friday I'm taking the family to Hawaii instead. I know, not an RV trip but somehow it was approved without complaints.
I will however take the RV two days after we get back and head to Idaho for a quick boar hunt. It's a fenced hunt but it's relatively close and all I have time for right now. Texas might be next on my list... |
