It starts with being taught manners at a young age. I do not trespass, never have, never will. If it is not mine, I do not use it. Why must folks feel it is their right to go onto another person's property, let alone take something from it?
Utah had to enact a shed "season" a number of years ago because they couldnt keep guys from chasing the deer and elk while they were on the wintering grounds and at their most vunerable. Its an epidemic in the western states and its only getting worse.

I hate to bring politics into this but it is just another symptom of the class warfare that certain politicians are trying to inflame. The idea that it is not really someone else's land but belongs to the masses (Soicialism?). Our family ranch was on the California coast overlooking the Pacific and bordered on the west by Hwy1. When we would find folks wandering around the place the most common excuse was "We thought this was a park". The fact that they had to climb through a barbed wire fence with "No Trespassing" signs on it didn't seem to clue them in that it was private property.

Sadly, I am pretty sure the local neighbors "poached" the sheds on our place NW Oklahoma. I made a couple trips up this spring to shed and turkey hunt, and I only found a fraction of what I normally do. We actually have a pretty good relationship with the neighbors and won't confront them about it, but it is really disappointing.

We don't need laws regulating shed hunting. We can solve several problems with just one law. Make it legal to shoot trespassing pieces of shit. The property I hunt is treated like everyone's playground. Just about every neighbor in a five mile radius has been caught and ticketed for trespassing. Deer season is not too bad. But shed hunting and turkey season is always trouble. Biggest group of trespassing dumbphucks are the mushroom pickers in spring. Only good thing is most of them are clueless city folks that get the messageand never ever come back. They sure get spooked by a rather large redneck in camo coming at them at a high rate of speed on an ATV. Maybe it is the 12 gauge on the front gunrack or the pistol on my hip. For some reason they seem glad when the sheriff shows up to give them a ticket
The shed laws in Utah and Wyoming are basically covering public lands where the animals are wintering and it's to cause them less stress because of the jackasses that can't wait until Spring that are going all over the place looking for antlers. They have even had people chasing animals around on ATVs making them run in hopes that their big antlers would fall off. This world has some real idiots and as the old saying goes you can't fix stupid!
