Here's a few links to this story that's going up here.

I live only about 50 miles from where this happened and know who the guys are that found it.

Unreal.......... talked to a friend of mine today who knows them really well and he said that the phone has been ringing off the hook from all over the U.S. wondering what the story is.

Long and short of it is:
Elk jumped a fence. Appears as though the bull tripped when going over the fence and landed upside down. Antlers got stuck in the snow and the bull couldn't get up. Guys got some 2 x 4's and helped free the elk.

Supposedly nets 456 and grosses around 475

Different pics. on each link:

Wow!!! Eeker

A good friend from the area always claimed the locals would see elk once in a while. I just thought he was smokin' crack...

On so many levels, this is a wonderful story - hunters doing the right thing, without thought of personal gain. And then to come upon it again afterwards, realizing that it's not a fair-chase animal because of it's physical exhaustion, and then to turn in the carcass to the game warden after it's dead...These are first-class people!

But then again, what else would you expect of Minnesotans? Smiler

Merry Christmas to you, friends!

friar
