I just applied for a preference point again this year. With the COVID-19 issues, I figured that it would be best to let it all rest for a season.

Nada for me. Haven't pulled a tag yet this year. Glad I have fall back plans. Jeremy

Dang that makes a clean sweep of “unsuccessful” applications. Except Oregon, but who counts them.

I drew my Nevada tag. I apply for the zone my ex wife is from, partly for spite and partly for the big deer, LOL.

Well, my 20 sheep points are now 21 and my 14 deer points are now 15. But, a bit later this morning a good buddy called to tell me he drew a Desert Sheep tag, so I'm going sheep hunting with him!

If you can't shoot em yourself, its still fun to tag along! I drew a desert ram tag in NV in 2014...so it does happen. I now have 17 pts for deer / elk though...that doesn't seem to be happening?!

Agreed. Between helping on a 211 desert sheep hunt and a December 081 deer hunt, I’ll have a few nice hunts. Throw in Bolivia in September, and Idaho ducks starting in October and it’s going to be a full fall schedule. You never know with points in Nevada. I drew 231 elk with 13 or 14 points and had an outstanding hunt. Just can’t seem to draw a deer tag now.

I get a lot of fun and pleasure helping others have a successful hunt.

It got a lot better for me last night. A guy I’ve coached baseball games with texted me to say he drew the lone non-resident PIW tag, can’t afford a guide and would appreciate any help I can give. That’s one of the most coveted deer tags anywhere. Statewide for any/all open seasons. It might be good that I haven’t drawn anything this year.

In Nevada it's what we refer to as Areas 24, 22, and 23 of Eastern Nevada bordering Utah. Those areas have big bucks that migrate west into the state from Utah. Some say that Area 16 over by Tonopah is top notch too. I had a friend hunt one of the areas in the extreme northwest area of the state, with a guide, and he shot a 230" mule deer. Can't recall the Nevada mule deer area-it's not very big, something like Area 011 or 013. There's also some other northern Nevada areas for mule deer that produce some big deer, especially for bow hunters.

Drew my elk after 17 years about 4 years ago. Wouldn't shoot a small one so went home without. Now trying to draw that deer tag with 8 points and counting. Once I do bye-bye Nevada. I've bought a NV license for about 20 years and yet only hunted twice in that time. Sometimes I feel like a dumb ass. Zinfandel and Backstraps!
