MTGunner2011 Montana mountain goat tag successful...
I drew a Montana mountain goat tag for zone 100-00. Now I gotta get my legs and lungs in shape to chase them starting Sept. 15. Plan to usew my Rem. XP-100R in 260AI loading 140 gr. Nosler Accubonds. My back up will be my Rem. 700 Mtn. rifle in 260AI same load. Lots of research and scouting to do as this zone is about 1 1/2 hrs. north of my home. MTG

Toppincongrats on the draw. No tags for anyone in my hunting group this year. Goats can tag some lead so keep shooting.

MTGunnerYes, you are correct about mtn. goats being able to absorb some lead. I shoot all yr. long. I went to africa this past May and TX last Feb. Did some shooting both hunts. My trophy room is shrinking dramatically. MTG

Paul TunkisGood for you! My goat hunt was extremely fun a few years ago and I hope yours will be just as good or better.

JCS271Good luck, I drew mine in 101 two years ago (right across the road from 100). I hunted the Spar lake and little spar areas which were happily only about 30mins from my place. Get some good boots and start getting in shape NOW! The Leigh lake area is always a good bet for seeing goats but that is about all the advice that I can offer since I do all of my hunting to the north towards the Yaak. Several of my friends have taken nice goats (and sheep) from the area you will be in.
