Cool. There were a few sightings around scottsbluff Nebraska the last time I worked there, so I think you're right, they seem to be expanding their territory. - Dan

CaptJack,
What area around Abilene was it taken . I've got an uncle that has a ranch outside of Coleman. Just curious.

CaptJack:

Did you notify TPWD of the sighting? They'd sure love to know. Check the link below.

My friend, who sent the jpeg to me in my email, is a biology teacher / wildlife biologist in Huntsville that I grew up with. He didn't say who sent it to him and I didn't save the original email with all of the forwarding headers. The original file name is "Caddo Cat". I asked my friend if it was a cat from Abilene that had migrated to the Caddo area. He said he didn't know the story behind the file name but that he had been told the photo was taken on property in the Abilene area. that's all we know?

The owner and gunsmith in the local gunshop in Breckenridge showed me this picture in November. He told me it was taken on a ranch between Breckenridge and Caddo. The contractor who is working on my house saw one about eight miles north of Breckenridge on a ranch where he was working last November. As long as two years ago I saw tracks on a cousin's ranch north of Breckenridge and he has reported several sightings. You're right, they are coming back to our area.

Bob,
thanks, I didn't even think about the little town of Caddo (I was thinking CaddoLk), south of PossumKingdom.
It all makes since now.
..really cool to know that they're coming back [Smile]

Jack, I agree. We have a place south of Breck that's less than a mile from a large creek. The place has lots of whitetails so I know the cats will be there. I'm going to check on the laws regarding hunting them because I think it's a possibility in the near future. Our conservation efforts are paying off.

You may hunt them in Texas. I am sure you must at least posses a valid Texas hunting license.

Once you kill one you just have to tell TP&W when and where.
