On Oct. 1 at about 9 p.m., a Hunt County game warden received a call from a landowner about shots being fired from a county road near her home. The warden responded and soon located a truck with a spotlight being shined from the window. He stopped the vehicle and a brief investigation revealed the subjects inside were the ones shooting from the roadway. The warden seized three spotlights, two semi-automatic rifles and cartridge casings as evidence. As the warden was issuing citations to the group for hunting from a roadway, another vehicle pulled alongside. When the warden attempted to make contact with the occupants of the second vehicle, the driver shifted into reverse and began to flee. The warden was able to stop the fleeing vehicle a short distance away and an investigation turned up methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A computer check revealed the male and female subjects inside the vehicle had both recently been released from prison. The couple were arrested on drug-related charges. The cases are pending.

Making guns illegal would make a great many people criminals just like making drugs illegal makes a great deal of people criminals.

Yep, never seems to fail. Turn 'em loose and they're right back at it again.

Canon City, CO last week: Idiot convicted of 7 felonies, was sentenced to 12 yrs for this 8th one of attempted murder.
Where in the hell is the 3 x's and it's life???
Why would any DA negociate reduced sentencing with such an asshole??

Got one here Wed night too. 30y/o, just out two months. 3am, circled the block and
came back around, pulled up next to an undercover cop car with 2 in it.
Pointed a gun at 'em out the window: "you guys cops??" "Yeah!" pointed their guns back
at him. He took off, they chased him down and caught him hiding on a house roof, had tossed
his 9mm in the bushes on the way up.
Mighty glad I'm not a cop!

Wonder if they'd said no if he'd just shot 'em. Something to think about.

These are cases I'd kick to the FEDS in Denver and let them do justice.

It was one of the frustrations of the job when you arrested some real bad guys ones that you knew who a real danger to the community.

They were given short or reduced sentences and were soon out and about committing more crimes.

Tried one time to get the feds to bring charges against a person like that. Was told he wasn't big enough.

He then went on to rob some banks shoot it out with the cops. Years later he did finely kill himself but cause a lot of problems till then.

The local cops know the bad guys getting the courts to put them away for a long time can be tough.

That article was from this past weeks Game Warden Field Notes, copied from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department weekly news update.

It is just an example of the stuff GW's have to deal with.

That is why I am always glad to hear that the homeowner or store owner cancelled some thuggies ticket.
Captured and tried they are just back on the street doing it again when they get out.

Ticket cancelled equals 0.0% recidivism.

My grandfather was a LEO for 40 years from the 20's to the 60's and worked through prohibition, broke up opium dens, whore hoses and gambling joints. He told me once that in all of that time he never pulled his gun on anyone. He did say he had a hammerless 38 that he carried in his coat pocket and many times he had someone covered with that but they never knew it.
I related that story to my neighbor who is a deputy. He said he couldn't count the number of times he had stuck his weapon in somebody's ear.
Times have changed.

My father was a police officer, deputy sheriff or federal agent from 1965-2000.

I was a police officer during most of 2000, and a federal agent during most of 2014 until I got out of that BS forever.

I was active duty military from 1993-2014 all except most of 2000. I got recalled by the Navy in 2000 when they were hurting for people. I think divine intervention pulled me out of the patrol car both times.

You couldn't pay me enough to be a LEO of any type today. I thank God everyday for those that work in Law Enforcement. What a rough line of business it has become.

Thank God for those that work in the profession.
