My Mn deer hunting report. Opening weekend was quite warm. One deer was taken by our friend about noon on Sunday. He was out walking/still hunting when the following occurred. Saw the deer about 50 yards. They had a short face of and a shot was taken.

If you look closely at the fron legs you will both knees shot. Just as the shot was taken the deer jumped over a blowdown. The chase was now on 15 min. later thechase ended when the deer charged him and a neck shot finished the encounter. Deer #2 was taken Monday morning about 0930. I had just gotten down from my stand, call of nature, when a deer appeared 70 yards infront of me. Of couse I was not ready for this as I was busy putting up a wind ribbon. I had a small tree in one hand and the ribbon in the other. I let go of both and turned to get my rifle, leaning against a stump with the chamber empty, which I had unloaded before climbing down. I jacked a round into the chamber and turned, raised the the rifle found the deer and fired. The deer went 10 yards.

Rifles used #1 deer 30-30 factory 150. Deer #2 7-08 140gr. TSX

Now for the rest of the story. Deer #3 SIL took this one.

This one fell about 1145 am on the 7th day. He was sitting in the stand #2 was taken from when this guy just came walking doun an old skid road on the edge of the cut. One shot from his Win. M70 push feed 7 Rem mag with 150gr. corlokt. Deer #4 was taken on the 14th day by my wife. She hunted every day an finally got a shot and made it count. She had seen 2 bucks before this one, one a forky and the other she said looked like an elk. This one was taken about 10am. She had junt climded up into the stand when this guy stood up from his bed about 50 out infront of her. She did not even have a round in the chamber. She unhooked the gun from the pullup rope and chambered a round and waited for a clear shot. Finally it walked into an opening where its vitals were clear and she fired. A short track later.

Rifle: Rem M7 300SAUM 165 TSX

All told it was a great time at deer camp. Hope yours was as much fun as ours.

Loc. Lake county Mn. not far from the BWCA wilderness.

Yes the freezer is full. We are working on the two elk from last year and 2 antelope from October.
