Hunters of the most dangerous game in the world use the M-700. Military Snipers. Of course it may be due to Rem. being low bidder. On the other hand look at the results form the Zimbabwe Professional Hunter tests on the African Hunter magazine web site. Remingtons in .416 had more problems than virtually every other rifle due in a large part to the extractor failing. I had a Brown Bear hunting client this past spring who's M-700 .300 Win. failed to extract after they lightly wounded the bear on the first shot. Fortunately the guides Ruger M-77 .375 H&H didn't malfunction. In my experience if a concensus of pros choose one type of equipment over another it is good advice to pay attention as to why. When push comes to shove and failure is not an option Mr. Mauser had it right.

You could just to get the CRPF and have a little of both worlds. I will probably get CRF from now on, but I do have a PF. For DG a CRF is the only way to go, but for anything under 30 cal or so, I don't think a CRF is needed. Place your first shot well and it shouldn't matter. Sevens
