Yes! In east Texas and Louisiana, you can hear the gators on the ZOOM near any water this time of year. ...………………...………………….. We live in a highly developed area of Jacksonville, in a subdivision, and there are alligators in the shallow creek under the bridge over the main road our subdivision feeds off of. There's a city park less than 10 minutes from our house that fronts the St. Johns River & also has a small pond. Last year there was a juvenile alligator swimming around in the pond. Fish & Wildlife monitors alligator reports & traps and removes them when they get to be a potential problem. The golf course at Naval Air Station Jacksonville has signs posted at/near water hazards, warning there are alligators in the area. We jokingly refer to all the detention ponds as "gator ponds." Bottom line: In Florida, any body of water, no matter how shallow, may have alligators in it.
