Elk outfitters?
I'm tying to plan ahead for a fall 2009 elk hunt and am looking for recommendations regarding elk outfitters.

I'm not looking for fancy, 5 star accommodations, nor am I looking for a cheap guide either; just an outfit with good bulls, good guides and real hunting experiences.

Thanks for any information,

-eric

Give Blue Mountain Outfitters a call and have him send you a brouchure. Excellent hunts and very reasonable rates. Has a great camp.

Hi Justin,

I'm not sure that I can put an exact price on what I mean by "cheap" for an elk hunt. I guess I mean that I'm not necessarily looking for the lowest price I can find.

I hope this helps.

TeatHound- I think it would be wise to look into R&K's hunts. They have a solid reputation here in Utah and hunt some good ranches. Send Justin a PM and inquire....

(I have never met Justin, just heard good reports of them from hunters and landowners.)

What weapon choice are you thinking, rifle, archery, or muzzleloader. Have you hunted elk before? Are you in good shape? Are you willing to try to draw a tag or do you want to hunt where you can be guaranteed a license? The price is always more for these types of hunts with a reputable operation. What type of lodging would you like & what do you expect out of your outfitter? Elk hunting prices rage from $3500 – $25,000+ for the very best hunts. One other thing you must consider is a nonresident hunting license will run you $300-$1500 depending on the state.

MC, Thanks for the kind words

We offer Elk in NM and WY. I have landowner tags (4) in NM. Our 5 day October rifle hunt is $5,900 including the tag/license. Be sure to read Justin's posts carefully. Unless you've Elk hunted before, you can get yourself in a bind without prior knowledge. It's one of America's great game animals and a pure joy to take one....any legal Elk. The meat is excellent venison.
Good hunting,
David
