Lewis & Clark - Wolves
Saw is in The Billings airport last week. This has to be wrong because there has never been a reported case of wolves biting anyone in North America or so we're told.

There have been many and repeated attacks on humans by wolves in North American. That is an "old wives" tale. You can do a Google search and find at least 3 this year alone........

I know your comment was "tongue in cheek".

I can't imagine why there would be a fear of a wild wolf. THey are very cowardly. They just serve no purpose, except to kill, some times eat what they kill, and shit!

It's the coyote we need to worry about!

This picture was on 24hr Campfire and taken near South Pass, WY. You wouldn't need to fear these pups.

I've hunted Elk/Deer in the L&C (MT) several times but never heard Wolves, nor saw their sign. But have seen them in broad daylight in Gardiner, MT. The impact they're having on wildlife is a shame.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Coyote Drags Toddler From Front Yard
5/8/8 Lake Arrowhead, CA Coyote Drags Toddler From Front Yard. Animal Releases 2-Year-Old Girl When Mom Appears; 3rd Incident In 5 Days. A coyote grabbed a 2-year-old girl by the head and tried to drag her from the front yard of her mountain home in the third incident of a coyote threatening a small child in Southern California in five days, authorities said.
The coyote attacked the girl around noon Tuesday when her mother, Melissa Rowley, went inside the home for a moment to put away a camera, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in an incident report.
Rowley came out of the house and saw the coyote dragging her daughter toward a street. She ran toward her daughter, and the animal released the girl and ran away, said sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire. --- (CBS/AP)

Pulled a 2-year-old girl from the jaws of a Coyote
5/2/8 Chino Hills, CA. A nanny pulled a 2-year-old girl from the jaws of a coyote Friday when the animal attacked the toddler and tried to carry her away in its mouth, officials said. The girl was playing in a sandbox at Alterra Park in Chino Hills in San Bernardino County. Around 10:30 a.m., the caretaker heard screaming and saw a coyote trying to carry the child off in its mouth, officials said. The babysitter grabbed the child and pulled her from the coyote's grasp, the sheriff's department said in a statement. The coyote then ran off into nearby brush. The child suffered wounds to her buttocks and was taken to Chino Valley Medical Center and was later released, director of nursing Anne Marie Robertson said. She was later transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center to receive the rabies vaccine. http://www.examiner.com/a-1373084~14_month_old_bitten_b...e_in_SoCal_park.html

Grizzly Adams
I've often wondered how much animal behavior has changed, by being exposed to Man. Lewis and Clark also reported a couple of incidents, where Grizzlies attacked on sight. Certainly predators would appear to have been a lot more agressive 200 year ago, according to their journals.
