If you are, how did the hunting go? What are the "head" doing in the Anchor? Were you successful? Some news, sir. [Big Grin]
best,

Bearhunt'r,

Good to hear from you, hope you're doing well! Been back two weeks today from forty days in the Brooks Range. Man, I died and went to heaven. All of the clients, but one and he had three chances, did really well. Three of the rams went over forty. Both grizzly hunters got bear, the largest squaring 7'2". Working holiday for me but it was great.

The steelhead, here on the Anchor, are in here pretty thick. My wife has been catching all the fish, including some really big Dollies. I've been so busy and with the high water from the rain, I haven't done much. Late yesterday afternoon, a guy caught two really nice steelies right in back of the cabin; watched him catch both of them. A friend of mine caught a 33" fish this past Monday just a bit downstream.

Well, did you do Tustumena. I just got a Zodiac that is just what the doctor ordered for Tusty.
I'd really like to do some more hunting there but I've already signed on for the Brooks for next year. Let me know what's going on.

Joe

Ovis,
I've been too busy to do any fishing! I would like to come down the following week on a Monday and try my luck. If it's possible for me to break free, I'll send you a mssg. and perhaps see if I can't introduce myself in person and buy you a warm one at the Inn.

It's been a good year for me thus far! Got a reasonable blackie for myself first of June, three others for friends, including a 6'10" with the closest thing to 20" skull I've seen in a long time! Then took advantage of the Ewe permit on Round mountain and have been enjoying her every since. A 40" ram she was'nt, but you could'nt tell by eating the roasts! [Big Grin]
Last but not least, I spent 7 days on the West side by Drift River and let the 416 Taylor "sing" on an 8"2" brownie at the long range of 4 yards! It was not as exciting as you might think...I already had my finger on the trigger and was also the only one that knew we were both there! I watched mr. bear for a few minutes and thought I beter have a closer look. Was expecting to see him at 100 or so yards. He made me decide not to tarry any longer! 400 grains found the "right place!"

Glad to hear that you were so successful! Sounds like it's the kind of place to be anytime! After 45 years here, thats one area I have not spent any time in...just one more I'll have to see.

The boat sounds like just the thing for the Tusty! You should'nt have any problem for sure. I did'nt make it there this year but will next.
More later!

Save a steelie for me!
best,
Mark

Bearhunt'r,

4 yards, EH?..............................Hope you can make it down sometime, just let me know, I'm not hard to find. The only thing I've got planned is to fish until the river freezes; tough life, but somebody has to do it.

Rained a bunch last night, river's muddy again this morning. Time to take a walk.

Joe
