They are a part of Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Alpine is in the far west trans-pecos desert area of Texas on the south side of the Davis mtns. I found some of their mountain lion prey data on U-Tube. In over 200 lion kills found in the Davis mtns. 25% were mule deer, 16% elk, 14% whitetail deer, 12% javelina(peccary), 9% feral hog, 4% aoudad(barbary sheep), 4% coyote, 2% scavenged(from other predators or not recovered by hunters), 2% miscellaneous(coons, skunks, possums, etc.), 0% livestock(must not be any sheep there) but that doesn't add up to 100%(?). The aoudad were introduced and the elk are either reintroduced or may have migrated across a lot of desert country from the guadalupe mtns. of New Mexico. Thought it might be of interest. | ||
