Based on my limited experience with that area (I drove through it several times last year) I would say your chances of killing a goat are pretty good. However, based on the BLM maps I have for that area, your chances of finding them on public land are not good. There looks to be only 10-12 sections of potentially accessible land. If you have access to private land there I bet you could do prety well. I was actually considering applying for a leftover tag for that unit, but decided not to based on the limited access.

Your application has to be in Cheyenne tomorrow, so you better get crackin' if you're going to apply.

Sorry, I missed your reference to HMAs. I don't know much about that. Tell me more if you can. My comments were directed to Unit 45 in general.

The one walk in area I know of is OK. Plus there is some public land if you know where to look. Let me know & I will see what I can find for you because 45 is right outside of town. Sept 23 is a good time to hunt the area.

Joe, I would be interested in some information. I have two doe tags for Area 51 and a general deer tag for Region D, but bombed out on the antelope buck tag for 51 and 50. I thought about Area 45 because it's fairly close to my other hunt area (and I could watch for deer too). I didn't think about walk-in access, only BLM and state land. That looked pretty limited on the BLM maps, but I don't have any "on-the-ground" intel for Area 45. I suppose with overnight mail it's not too late to apply still...

desertRam, how it works, is that there are a group of ranches that allow you full access for the 2nd hunt. You can't hunt on them the first one, but starting the 23rd of september, you can hunt the ranches. If you draw, you request a permission slip from the dept and off you go........wapiti7

Well, I'll be up there the second week of October, so this could have worked. But unless I'm ready to jump a plane to Cheyenne to get my application there today, it's not going to happen this year. I'll keep it in mind for next year though - thanks!

That's cool. I thought you could only apply with a money order or cashier's check. I have to make one last phone call and maybe I'm in. What the heck, it's only money. Big Grin I I don't spend it on an antelope tag my wife will find something to spend it on later.
