Thanks gentlemen. I almost believed some of the hype.
Where to hunt next..... Hmmmmmmmm. Same as hog hunting. Nobody wants to give up their 'honey hole'. I can understand that.

How is the deer pop up that way? Any older bucks? Couldn't find any buck over 5 year in northeastern Wyoming last year.

I would bet that a 5 year old buck up here is about as rare as hens teeth.

We have few very nice bucks shot every year.

But if any body in northern Wis said he has them.

It is a high fence hunt or he is just taking your money.

Lots of hunting pressure, winter kill wolves and bears.

Of the tens of thousands of deer I seen hunting and driving around for over 50 years. I have seen maybe 5 that could be true trophy's over 180.

In my job I put between 25000 and 50000 miles a year on all over northern Wis for over 30 years.

I think at one time the average age of a deer killed was 1.5 years.

I like eating venison. I will shoot a big buck if a see it. But it is not a priority with me.

Wife asked me why in spend a couple grand hunting Montana every couple years.

I said Wis doesn't have mule deer doesn't have high sage prairie.

I saw one real trophy mule deer he belong on the wall for sure.

He was 1150 yards away down and over a few deep gullies and I needed 3 stents.

One of the best hunts I had out there was last year.

Saw lots of deer some really bucks last year.

I didn't kill a deer had a great time with my hunting partners.

It is far more important to have a fun hunt the kill anything anymore.

I can kill all the venison I need to right here.

A lot of days I could shoot one in the yard.

I realize this is a bit anecdotal but driving down to my brothers place in Mondovi there were a lot road kill so I'm guessing the deer count is up this year.

I hear ya. I miss the old days when cousins, Dad, granpa, uncles and friends would hit the mountains for deer. All of them either died or quit hunting. Sure miss that. Be well.
