On a shoot in February I practiced "use what you know works" and took my CZ in .416 Rigby and the same ammo used in August 2006 for Cape Buffalo (350 gr Barnes X at 2700 fps). Rifle has had a lot of work but looks normal.

One shot at 110 yards or so. Impact was left side behind the front leg. Bison bolted but only made 25 to 30 yards before crashing. No bullet recovered. Good bleed out. Not much meat loss. That formula just works.

I think I have a few you sent me a long time ago(?). Also, wasn't there one of you with that rifle and a bottle of JD? Smiler

If you can post up a clip of your vid, that'd be very cool.

Here's a yearling cow, killed with one shot from my .45-70 Sharps. The meat was wonderful and the hide is my bedspread.

What's your definition of a "buffalo rifle?"

The '74 Sharps in my hand is a considered by many to be the buffalo rifle.

What kind of buffalo rifles do you mean? Any kind of rifle used to kill bison? or cape buffalo? Or are you interested in actual "buffalo rifles" like bigasanelk's?

Just curious...I have a few I can post but they are not old time 19th century buffalo rifles.

Cheers,
Canuck

Yikes! Your name is not inappropriate! thumb Looks like you could lift that bison over your shoulder and carry it back to your truck, or even eat it in a couple of sittings! Smiler
