Corey - I am assuming that you want to hunt east of Rifle and Meeker which would put you into the Flat Tops area. If this is where you are looking to go, then you can expect to see a lot of other hunters. The majority of these guys drive the roads and/or walk a few miles off the road. But with everyone carrying GPS you may see more people farther back in. I used to bow hunt the Flat Tops many years ago and some of my co-workers still hunt there with good success. The elk herds there are in good shape and I read a DOW article that said elk numbers remain higher than the winter carrying capacity. So you should find elk if you get out and beat the bush. The front range mountains received snow earlier this week but I'm unsure about the western slope areas. If you tell me what season (second, third or fourth) and the specific game management unit that you intend to hunt, I might have more info for you. Good luck,
Thank you for your reply! We will be hunting the third season (Nov 3-9). In unit 22 mostly, but some in 31 as well. Do you know anything about these units?
