I have hunted EO for more than 45 yrs and it can be t-shirt weather or pile on everything you've got. What unit you plan to hunt also makes a huge difference. If I can give more specific info let me know. Lynn
I've never hunted elk around Juntura but, have hunted there many times for Chukar. The country is generally rolling hills covered with sage to the South of there. North of there there is more timber mainly Juniper. If there is a good bird hatch you will see lots of bird hunters.
I've never seen elk right in that area so I can't even guess where you might want to hunt.
If you have never been to Juntura there is a cafe/motel/RV park that will be full of bird hunters. A few houses, a school and a BLM station just out of town and that is all there is. No fuel available there.
Hope you do well.

As a non-resident I can say I hunted there once with friends who live in Oregon..... in the Blues.
Worst hunting trip I was ever on....... people everywhere. I mean every ridge had people and it was NOT what I am use to. I left half way through the trip. Could not stand the number of people.
One of the guys shot a spike bull and we actually had other people at it before we walked down to it. They were claiming it was theirs.
Worst hunting experience I have ever had. Glad I live in the sticks in Canada.
Nice country and nice people though.
