This big guy and a shorter but wider 9 point have been sparring in my south pasture. Wifezilla and our daughter are both going to be trying for him during the gun season.

Jeez, that’s late. Won’t the rut be over?. Our season started today. Saw a few does but no bucks.

I get photo's of some really nice bucks every year.

Problem is my stomach over rules my desire to shoot horns.

I am a firm believer if you want to eat venison.

Shoot the one in front of you.

My area of Kentucky allows one antlered buck and unlimited does so the meat isn't an issue. Also, Farmers hunting on their own land don't need to buy a hunting license or deer tags.

Here's the 9 pointer that he's tussling with. It's a younger buck but he'll be a great one in a couple of years.

I have filmed this Buck for the last 3 falls. His rack is extraordinary. Measuring nearby objects has placed the inside main beam at about 26 to 27" and the widest spread over the "cheaters" (2 on each side) at something like 33 or 34". In these three years, there has been such similarity in the rack shape that's truly hard to believe. His front eye-guards never seem to get very long. Shows that rack shape and size are somehow connected to DNA. Am excited to see how he looks next year! By the way, a game biologist buddy thinks he's 7 or 8 this year. Will try to get pictures next fall...
