With all due respect the impact velocities would be high for good bullet performance if the bear were close. For long range it would perform like many others.

This is why I sold the .378 Weatherby and kept the .375 H&H.

As for the single shot on big bears. My buddy and I were trailing a bear and all I had was my Ruger #1 (7mm Mag) and he had a little .308 Ruger 77. We were teasing each other as to who could stop the bear if it charged.
