Well I acutally just wrote in to toot my own horn a bit. During deer season this year I was able to down 2 deer with one shot. 7 does came out and since I had already shot one opening day I decided to wait until two of them lined up. Well after a few mins of them wandering around I got my shot. Was about 200 yards broadside. Both dropped. Life is good with a 270 winchester.
Just thought I would share cause I have told everyone else I know. Smiler

I have heard of it happening by accident.

Now that Wis. gives out more then one tag one could and can do it on purpose.

Good shooting.

Thanks.

I was shooting:
130 grain hornady sp
62 grains H-4831 sc
They really do the job.

Now I just have to figure out what is the next game plan to top that.

I have no wish to slam your hunting, but I have to say that shoting two animals with one shot is somethink I have great reservations on doing or hunting with people that do it.

I know that it can happen if you are really unlucky (in my eyes). But I take all precautions to awoid it and I must say that I feel other hunters should do the same.

I feel that the risk of wonding a animal is to great. I have shot up to three deer on one occation but always on free standing animals. Three shots, three deer.

Hope you don't find this post offensive, but this kind of shoting goes against all I have learned about shooting and hunting.

Ahhh, let me share my weeping & gnashing of teeth! killpc

Long story short--I had the best luck ever this year seeing deer, and the worst luck ever shooting deer!

Shot two in MN, both easy shots, both shot behind the diaphram.

Opening morning in WI, saw the biggest buck ever in that neck of the woods--again, easy shot, ready for him, and didn't even have the fever--but I gut shot him too, and didn't make the recovery Mad

On Monday of that season, I walked up on a button buck. I shot him at bow and arrow range and finally made a clean, killing shot.

Final score: 3 deer gut shot, 1 decent shot (albeit at only 15 yards!).

I think my problem was this: subliminally, I wanted to avoid hitting the shoulder and ruining the meat. In all the deer I've shot, only once before have I gut shot an animal, and this year three! So, after the third deer, I made a mantra:

"Break the shoulder, break the shoulder, break the shoulder."

Amen!
