New Hampshire Hearing for Bill Opening Fish & Game Commission to Anti-Hunters Posted on January 28, 2020 Share Button TwitterFacebookLinkedin Legislation that allows people who have never hunted, and even hold anti-hunting views, to be appointed to the Fish and Game Commission will have a hearing next week in New Hampshire. The House Fish and Game and Marine Resources Committee will hear House Bill 1571 at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, in the Legislative Office Building, Rooms 211 & 212. Take Action Today! New Hampshire sportsmen should call their state representative and ask them to vote NO on HB 1571. Sportsmen can contact their representative by using the Sportsmen’s Alliance Legislative Action Center Directory. Current law specifies that nominating boards must be made up of sportsmen that have been licensed to hunt or fish in New Hampshire for at least five of the last 10 years. House Bill 1571 deletes the requirement that appointed commissioners are sportsmen who hold a license and simply states that participants must accept scientific methods and be well informed on hunting and fishing. HB 1571 would allow even those who oppose hunting to be appointed to the commission. It’s well known that American sportsmen fund the vast majority of wildlife conservation efforts across the country through their purchase of hunting and fishing licenses and from taxes paid on the purchases of firearms, ammunition, archery equipment and fishing gear. Recognizing the connection between successful wildlife conservation and hunting, fishing and trapping, most state fish and wildlife agencies have sportsmen heavily involved in fish and wildlife decisions. “It is a major issue if the natural resources that our New Hampshire members pay to maintain would no longer be represented by commissioners that wish to protect the core beliefs of sportsmen,” said Jacob Hupp, associate director of state services for Sportsmen’s Alliance. “By removing the requirement that appointees hold a hunting or fishing license, it becomes increasingly likely that the New Hampshire Game Commission will eventually be made up of anti-hunters.” ~Ann

Hell Yes a Fish & Game committee should be administered by hunters and fishermen. No brainer, common sense, whatever you want to call it.

Sounds like the "camels nose under the tent". Smite that nose strongly early on, that is my suggestion! They do NOTHING to help and in some cases piggy back on things paid for by hunters and fishermen. Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

We have big money ranchers running Idaho Fish and Game. The result is similar. Fish and Game at the behest of their rancher overlords, just assassinated 206 elk. No hunting involved. Hired gunmen to kill them at night. I believe Idaho Fish and Game has poached more elk then all the other poaching incidents by non fish and game personnel. Ranchers can be powerful anti hunters.

That's why Alaska is so screwed up with the fish and game being in Juneau. Most people in Juneau are fruitcake bunny huggers so they rule almost all the public meetings there .They saved the wolves and grizzly bears till they ate most all of the moose throughout the state .Juneau is nothing like the rest of Alaska it's like Seattle. ITS things like this that totally screw up hunting. I asked over 50 people here In Georgia at fish and game of they hunted or fished none did .We find the fish and game depts but are hardly represented and they spend our money the way they want to .Here in Ga they had a wildlife tag with a dee5 and quail on it and it raised over $20 million but they had tricked people into buying this tag it was really a nongame car tag and they used the money for walking trails in parks and bird watching trails .It was a very bad trick on hunters we bought most of the car tags. THEN the governor bought a wma from the state for $1200 an acre and resold it to the state for $9200 an acre .Hunters ABC fisherman get the short end of the stick all over the place!
