My Utah Mountain Goat Hunt
Hi Everyone.
I hope everyone is doing good.
I just returned from an Awesome Mountain Goat Hunt in Northern Utah at around 11,000 Ft.
It was a very tough, scary at times, awesome quality hunt. No matter how hard you train, you just cant prepare for this altitude. Yours Lungs just cant get air into them. I won a tag for this unit, (and by won I mean I Outbid another guy for a conservation tagSmilerSmilerMy wife always points that out.)
We scouted the goats the night before opening day. The next morning, with wind howling, we spotted our goat at 730. I would like to show you a picture of that goat, as it was a true monster, but I didnt adjust for the wind and shot just in front of him. (if I would've adjusted for the wind properly, the shot would've squared him in the shoulder.)
A little rattled from my miss, my guide, who I think was part goat, said no worries, lets go find another. when we got to the other guide who was acting as spotter, he already had more goats picked out. There was a herd moving down the mountain towards us with several nice bilies in it. We were trying to pick out the one with all the best qualities you look for in a Billy. Long Hair, Thick horns, and long length.
We picked out the one we liked, and let him have it at about 185 yards. He dropped but started to roll down the hill. The problem is, once they start to roll, they may not stop till the bottom of the mountain. He stopped rolling and I put one more anchoring round, and the hunt was over with this Magnifacant Billy. We got him caped and cut up and hauled it all out. It was truly an amazing day.
This is my 5th Animal towards my SCI North American 29.
Thank for letting me share.

Nice goat. The number 730 refers to the time of day I hope, and not the range.
