At least it could have been a Dodge Ram that hit it.

Looks like a good sized bighorn too.

Kind of a sad end for a good ram. I nearly hit one once by Empire Colorado. Had a whole herd of them in the road at daybreak on a foggy morning. Mostly women and children, but there was a good ram in the bunch.

I still wonder if they would have issued a "road-kill" permit for him. It's easy to get one for an elk/deer/antelope, but harder for the things like bear/lion/sheep.

I'm sorry but the first thing that comes to mind is what a dumbass the driver was. The road is dry, 2 lanes wide with big shoulders, daylight and clear and he hits a frickin sheep in the road. To me that has selfish bastard written all over it. "I'm in a hurry" the excuse of the times. I'm sure he figured he'd drive right by those Sheep that were standing on the shoulder till that one changed his mind and walked across the road and got blasted by some A-holes fancy truck.
Yeah I've hit a deer in the road before but it wasn't under those kinds of conditions and sheep don't move like deer.

With all due respect, that is a truly remarkable conclusion to come to based on one photo that is zoomed into the front of the vehicle. It seems that the driver may have been going downgrade and around a turn as well. There is no evidence as to what the other side of the road looks like. Do you really believe someone made a snap decision to potentially total his own vehicle? I don't mean to be harsh, but making such a judgement is about the same as telling us how much pain the occupants of the vehicle are in by looking at vehicle damage.

i'll have to back snellstrom on this one
in my country the wintering sheep are on the highway "every day" and you need to Slow Down
in the areas they inhabit.
a disgusting way for fine ram to meet his end.

maybe the driver was on his/her cell phone. maybe the driver wasn't from the region. who knows. when I was driving a rental car in oregon with my dad, we came around a corner and found 7 sheep beside the road, 2 of which were rams. regardless, it is certainly a shame.
