Tried Swift Siciroccos this hunting season in my 7mm STW. Found them to be very accurate and had impressive performance. I shot eight big game animals this year and only recovered one bullet from an elk at long range and it went through both shoulders and lodged under the hide all others had complete penetration. The bullet had 93% weight retention. Was wondering if anyone else had tried these bullets and how they performed good or bad.

That's pretty impressive. What weights/velocities?

That is impressive. I've been wanting to hear some real world performance because they now have them in .277!! :-) Yea...

I read somewhere that this bullet has a pure copper jacket(?) and tends to foul a barrel more than other bullets with apparently copper-alloy jackets(?). But I don't know.

I was using 150gr in my Stw at 3400fps. Copper fouling is no worse than any other bullet that I have used.Sure am happy with them so far.

Gonzolas,
I bought a box .308 180 gr Scirocco's in Anchorage at Mt View Sports. I loaded dozen 30-06 rounds for a black tail deer hunt that I took last Nov. without going to the range. My rifle was already dial-in for 180 gr. Trophy Bonded Bear Claws, which I also brought a dozen rounds of those along. I ended up with 4 deer, 3 were spike bucks and one was 3x2. The first two spike bucks I took with the Trophy's, which worked, but seem to make a OK wound Channel (I really think they are too tough of a bullet for deer). The last 2 bucks I took which included the 3x2 was taken with the Scirocco's. The Scirocco's seem to expand in a hurry. I took one spike with a head shot, which de-brained him. The 3x2 buck was a frontal body shot. The wound channel on him was about the size of a golf ball the whole length of his body and exited out the hind quart. Made a good mess of things, but it worked. The other great thing I liked about the Scirocco's, they shot about the same place of impact as the Trophy's.

The copper fouling thing - No thanks, I'm not going down that road.

The bottom line; I like the Scirocco's.

Chris
