Almost a perfect elk hunt. I put in for a youth tag for my son in CO, 1st rifle season. Not a hight success but also the lack of hunting pressure was nice. We hiked up this mountain only to find out there was a road really close to the top of this really steep mountain. Hiking up in the darkness hides the reality of situation, and so does being 13. Any how we spotted elk, hastily pursued elk down the "wrong" side of he ridge only to be winded or outwitted or both. Hiked out and decided to repeat the process the next day.

I need to learn how to easily upload pics. We had a great hunt.

If you can't get your 13 year old to show you how to upload the pictures then someone on here will make it happen.
It is always great to see happy kids with their animals.

Satellite maps are just a couple mouse clicks away of most any where you want to go.

Nothing better, when it comes to hunting, than seeing our youth out hunting. Great job to all of you!

In 4 1/2 hours I'm supposed to be waking up to take my 14 year old on his first bull tag here in s.e. Oregon silvies unit first season. I think I'm more excited then he is. Were both still awake though. Went to the city took him shopping. Man I spent way to much but atleast I got enough for gas. It's only a 5 day hunt but looking forward to it. I too cant post pictures. So dont feel bad.

My 16 year old got her first elk this year, she's hooked now. Especially after I grilled her some steaks from her spike, she said she'll happily kill a spike every time if they taste that good. However, I think that'll change if Snellstrom's youngest has a big bull in his sights, there is a little competition between those two since they are the same age and have hunted together since they were 9.

I'm sure it was great time for you both!

Good on ya'll, those kids wont be smoking dope and stealing hub caps in the future. My kids grew up hunting and calf roping and running barrels, the boys team rope and still do, so do the girls..it works guys!!
