Finally got around to taking a couple pics of the 350 FPB we pulled out of my buddies CO bull. He shot the bull at around 40yds broad side behind the shoulder with the 1st round. That one blew through with ease. He reloaded and slamed him again qtring to. The bullet smashed the on side shoulder, took out onside ribs, blew through the vitals, through the off ribs, and came to rest under the off side hide. Recovered weight was 280.6grns. Load was 80grn BH209 lit by CCI209 from an Encore. Blew my 348grn PB performance out of the water. I shot my bull at 35yds and only hit a rib, which deflected it hard left taking out one lung with one small piece at rest near the diaphram. Needless to say, I know what I'll be using the next time we draw. Have a good one, Reloader

This may be a stupid question, but are you shooting them saboted out of 54-caliber rifles, or just loading them straight in 50s? I have heard of folks shooting jacketed in muzzleloaders without sabots, just haven't tried it myself.

Doubless, These have a cupped base with thin walls that's flared a bit to work in diff dia bores. They seat fairly easy in the 4 Mlers I've tried them in(CVA Optima, Knight USA, TC Omega, and TC Encore). The only drawback is they are very finicky, some rigs shoot them terribly. I had to go with fairly light charges around 80grn of BH209 to get them to shoot in my Omega. My Knight nor Optima would shoot them worth a hoot. My bud's Encore shot them well with 70 and 80 grns, but not so well above 80. The good thing is BH209 is hot enough that 80 still moves them 1700-1800. I've also tried t7 with limited success. I have some of these 350's in the safe, sounds like they are perfect elk medicine. Any photo of the elk? Justin "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"

The Thor bullets are another excellent choice. They shoot great out of my Omega (1") and given the all copper construction they penetrate beautifully and generally retain 100% of their weight. I've dug several out of a clay bank and they were mushroomed perfectly with all petals intact. Teamed up with BH209 they are tough to beat. Thor offers a free sample pack in 4 diameters so you more likely to find a size that your muzzy likes. The FPB's will work, but there is simply no comparison to the Thors for penetration and weight retention. ______________________ I don't shoot elk at 600 yards for the same reasons I don't shoot ducks on the water, or turkeys from their roosts. If this confuses you then you're not welcome in my hunting camp.

Guys, The Thor II is supposed to be out soon as well. It has a graphite coating on the base, so it's a one size fits all bullet now. Should be interesting and I plan to order some when they release them. Have a good one, Reloader

Justin, here's a pic of the 5x5 my buddy shot with the above bullet: Not a monster, but after humping it for a few days chasing them, we were glad to get into range of a legal bull. 4 days in, this guy came in on a string at 35yds: I was shaking so bad after he bugled at about 50yds, it could have been a 400 class bull and not been any more exciting. He's been darn fine on the table! Have a good one, Reloader
