If you can afford it, the GPS V would be an excellent choice. I have the older model(III+) and find that the dual-orientation screen is very handy. Works great in-hand or from the dash of a vehicle (where I use it a lot for scouting/travelling, etc.). It's water-resistant(proof?), has good battery life, stores a ton of map info and has good routing ability.

I sent a couple of PM's to those who commented on a similar thread not long ago.

I just ordered a Garmin GPS Etrex Legend Color and the MapSource Topo US CD from GPSDiscount.com.

Total was $368 shipped.

Bass Pro's price on the unit itself was $349.99.

Hope I got a good one. Any comments?
