Damn but I have a turkey story .

Went to the NE corner of my place. The Birds have been hanging around. They fly down. About 15 hens walk in from the left . As I am watching them, a gobbler sounds off right next to the tent. Actually , there were two of them.

I get the gun ready . At about 15 yards, I tell
Patrick to shoot. CLICK!!!! Nothing . I said a few 4 letter words I shouldn’t have used .

I get the gun inside the tent. I manage to get another shell in. Get Patrick set. CLICK! Damn it.

I bring the gun in again and get it reloaded . I get it loaded and get Patrick set . He shoots , the gun goes off . He missed. I should have made him wait for a closer shot. He had a 410.

Well we set there. I called occasionally. I could hear a bird in the distance. Then I heard wings close by. I looked up. It was 2 gobblers . Different gobblers . I got Patrick set. BOOM! The gobbler is finished .

I have never seen Patrick so excited .

The gun is a new gun I just picked up. It does not load the way all my other semi’s load.

Great I always get more of a kick out of seeing the kids hunt and and kill something then myself.

One thing about pop up blinds they cover up lots of movement.

Maybe to close the pattern didn't have time to open.

A 410 with TSS shot is a proven killer past 40 yards.

My small hunters 410 shotgun is a single shot with a dot sight and TSS shot mounted in a Bog pod tripod.

Did you figure out what went wrong with the shotgun.

I probably have 15 other semi autos. In each of them , I can put a shell in the chamber , push the release and they will shoot . This one apparently will only shoot if it is fed from the magazine . I have shot a lot of shotguns in my life . This is the first time I have ever seen that .

Excellent story. A tough lesson in patience and perseverance, but you grandson got you through your lesson. Good for him!
