Now that this scope has been out in the market place for some time, I would like to know what the masses think about this scope. Thumbs up or thumbs down? I am in the market for a new scope and I plan to do some swapping with current scopes and rifles I have. I may get a Grand Slam. If I do, it is either going on a .270 or .300 Win Mag. I have a Leupold Vari-x III and a couple of Vari-X II's, Burris Fullfield II and original Fullfield w/posi-lock and a Nikon (pre-Monarch). I like the Vari-XIII and the older model Nikon the best of the scopes I have. However, I am definitely interested in the Grand Slam. So, what say you? If you have one of these would you buy another? If you were looking at these and didn't buy one, why?

I bought a Weaver Grand Slam a couple years ago when they first came out. Mine has endured a everything from wind and rain in Canada to dust, wind, snow, extreme cold, and even the ocassional hot day in Montana. It is definitely brighter and clearer than my Leupold II's and slightly better than even my III's. Look through one yourself and be the judge. So far I'm very happy with it and my only gripe is that it doesn't say Leupold on the side, I still have a hard time mentally seeing that word "Weaver" on the scope, but it's definitely a keeper. It makes a good support for antelope as well.

C-Roy - I had one of the 3-10x40's when they first came out. Very bright and clear, seemed like good light gathering capabilities. Very precise, repeatable changes with the positive 1/4 MOA clicks.
Having said all that, the WHOLLY abominable rubber magnification adjustment ring caused the scope to have to be mounted in medium rings rather than low to clear my bolt handle. I replaced this scope with a Bushnell Elite 4200 that I liked even less, in retrospect, so I guess I should have stuck with the devil I knew. That rubber ring was awful looking, though...
I have a 6x20 and really like it...I move it back and forth between rifles to work up loads...clear and doesn't seem to mind recoil on some fairly light rifles.
