Hey Y'all,

The rancher I guide blackbuck hunts for just got in touch with me. They have several large bucks on the ranch right now, some are dark bodied, and he has agreed to let me do a hunt!!

If you have been wanting a blackbuck, this is your chance. The hunt is Saturday, July 31st. I will take 2 hunters. We will hunt from sunup to sundown. The cost is only a $100 daily rate and a $700 trophy fee when you take your buck. You should get a shot at animals from 17" to 20"+. The ranch is near Camp Wood, Texas. These are free-ranging blackbucks on a working ranch and are not behind high-fence. They are very wary and don't stand still for long. It is a challenging hunt. Be prepared to take up to a 300 yard shot. I can usually get you within 150-200 yards.

My hunter coming in from Arizona could not make it so I have room for one more hunter.

San Antonio is the nearest large town. If you come from out of state, you can stay with me and I will drive you up to Camp Wood.

Let me know ASAP,

Bob

Hey Bob, if you get an opening when the weather is a little cooler let me know. If it wasn't for working 6 days a week and the 90+ deg. temps I'd be interested this time.

I'm not Bob, but I have hunted Blackbucks with him on this ranch......a non-resident does need a license.......it will cost somewhere around $40......it's worth it!

Thanks, GH. That sounds like the same permit type fee that a NR would pay for, say, a hog hunt on a Tx. ranch. Cheap enough for sure.

Reason I asked is I think my 03/04 Tx. NR Deer/Turkey lisc is expired but I dont have it on me to check it.

Thanks again.

You may be in luck. IIRC the license year ends July 31 at midnight in Texas.

The 5-Day Non-Res. license you need is the same one as for hogs, predators, etc. and it is $45.

If you can go, let me know!

Bob

This is the blackbuck GH took with his Contender:

M16, thanks.
Bob, I'm nailed to the floor right now with work and looks like I wont see home until the 30th. That does sound like a good deal. I have forwarded your info to 2 of my West Tx. hunting Amigos who live in Pasadena. These 2 are pretty much "have gun, will travel" types and maybe ya'll can connect and tag up.

If you can, please post some pics when you complete the hunts. Thanks, Bob.

Bob,

STOP, please stop posting these photos, your killing me. They do make nice trophy mounts though I'am trying to make hunting plans for 2005, so how long is that waiting list? Whats my odds of going in jan.- feb.? The reason I ask is, I'm looking at one of two options. Option one is an african leopard hunt in June plus a hunt in the NWT which will eat up all my hunting budget or option two would be the hunt with you, the leopard hunt and a hunt in South Dakota in the fall.

The final spot on this hunt has been taken.......

Mark,

The list is currently longer than the number of hunts I will be able to do. Someone will have to cancel. I would not plan around this, it will be a long shot.

Good Hunting,

Bob
