Hey Salixco, That does speak well for that particular Hunter. I'd suspect there are still a good many Hunters that do just that.

The people I hunt "with" tend to act as Guides for each other from time to time. An example would be a HUGE TROPHY WHOPPER Buck I saw 3 years ago. The first time I saw it, I went right in that night and told my hunting buddies about where, when, the direction of travel and anything else I could think of to share with them. No one hunted him while I was gone for a few days. But, I was disappointed they didn't.

I got back and spotted him within 30minutes of the previous time, moving basically across the same piece of property. Came in that night and told them again. Had to leave for a few more days and one guy had gone over and hunted him. As soon as I came back he said with WIDE OPEN eyes, "I saw him tooooo!!!"

We both hunted that specific Deer real hard at a distance so as not to alert him to the fact we knew he existed. We never did get him.

But, by your definition, I suppose I should not have told my hunting buddies the WHOPPER existed or where he was roaming - "Guiding them" to that Deer. I would have loved to have taken that Deer, but it would also have given me a great feeling of satisfaction if my buddy had taken him. And credit would have been shared all around.

Everytime someone trys to make a hard and fast Rule about Ethics, there always seems to be an "exception" or two that seem reasonable when thought about.

...You're outta control and hunting would be a LOT more fun eh? ... Slinging insults at me isn't likely to get me upset or change my mind and the more outrageous they get the sillier you look. Aren't you gettin' a little embarrassed? This is more like a temper tantrum than a discussion about big game hunting...

I seriously doubt VG will understand that concept. He is just posting his "strengths" - insults and foolishness.

Of course, he isn't quite w-i-d-e open yet. In order to reach that level you really need to mention that "some of" the (rag) Pre-64 M70s have impurities in their steel which is well documented in P.O. Ackley's two volume set, "Handbook For Shooters & Reloaders". It is also interesting "to me" that the fine folks at Winchester never recalled any of those rifles. I had quite a few of them and never had one blow-up. And if any of you like them, more power to you. They are just not for me.

That should turn VG on w-i-d-e open.

The really bad part about it is I do believe he has some "good points" to add to a discussion. But for me it is no longer worth the effort sorting through the trash for the good parts.

Best of luck to you VG.
