I beleive the headlines should have read; "Substance Abuser surrenders after standoff"

At least out here the "hunter" isn't a big deal to anyone. The situation will be taken for what it was, NOT a slam on hunters by an anti hunting media.

You got that right Frank. It always annoys me when these media types write "hunters" when they mean "poachers and criminals". I thought part of that journalistic education was about what the wors mean and how to use them properly. I feel sorry for the guy, and especially his family, it's obvious he has mental problems, but what's the writer's excuse? - Dan

Don't fool yourselves. The person that wrote this article knows full well the definitions of 'hunter' , 'poacher' , and 'criminal'.
He used the word 'hunter' in the title to paint us all in the worst light possible.

And the press is not biased.

Hi,
I must admit that I have felt like doing the same thing when a partner coughs loudly at the crack of dawn of the first day of hunting!
Hopefully he'll be recognized as a crack-pot, not a hunter. I remember reading that Montana/Wyoming are some of the most hunter-friendly states, so I wouldn't worry about a backlash.
