Nice snakes, did ya'll eat them? That is why we always carry the first two rounds Speer Shotshells in our 44 Mags at the deer lease. Killed two copperheads in camp last year, and just a few weeks ago killed almost a 4 foot Rattler just outside of camp.

Bear I once told a black truck driver about snow snakes after he pulled into a parking lot during a storm. Wtih about 6 inchs of the white stuff on the ground. He tipped toed back out to his truck. I told him the snow snakes crawl under the snow then get you. It was good laugh watching him head back to his trk.

Not bad, but you should of been in Africa when we came across the 8 foot Black Banded Cobra like we did. Now that will make you wake up for a few days. It gives a whole new meaning to watch out where you step.

I'm surely proud of the Texicans in my family tree (from San Saba, Buffalo Gap, Roby, Sweetwater and Stennet), but I am also glad my branch had the sense to move to Oregon a loooong time ago. Our buzztails are little bitty fellas out here, never longer than five feet or so ...

WHEN I lived in Florida, MANY years ago, my dad and I were invited to hunt quail at a plantation belonging to some friends of his.
It was in palmetto country.
Offered us stove pipe leggings (this was in the 60s) for "some protection" but they said we had to be careful around the palmettos because the diamondbacks would sun and set on top of the palmettos so if they struck at you it would be in the stomach/chest area.
Saw one at about 6' and was told it was about "average" and that they had killed some close to 9' on the farm.
