I guess if you like giving your money to some one else so they can go hunting feel free.

I haven't seen anything from them that I would like to give money to.

I am a life member. They have a good magazine. I don't find that they ask for money anymore than the NRA. Sometimes they are a little much for me but I have started my membership with them again too.
The only real benifit that you get from the NAHC is the field trial stuff. Mostly $10-$15 stuff, But it is free and I didn't waste the money on it. They have a good websight and the guys on the forums are real nice. Kinda the same as here but, it takes awhile to get accepted. I hung around there for awhile but you just don't get the quanity of posts as you do here on AR. It is not a scam but the life membership ain't all its cracked up to be. Mostly it just means that they try to sell you more stuff. The stuff while overpriced is good quality.
They are sopposed to lobby for hunting rights and I am sure they do but, you don't get the indepth reports like the NRA gives you on their gun rights lobbying.
In my opinion give it a try for a year. With the magazine and a field test or two you really don't waste your money.

As a general rule, people are nuts!

P Dog is correct. The are a for-profit organization. You are paying them for the privledge to get a sticker that advertises for them. At least in the NRA the dues go to conservation or lobbying congress. The NRA also publishes where their money is spent. NAHC, Texas Trophy Hunters, Buck Masters and a whole list of others are simply ways for the founders of the organization to hunt free.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

They WERE an painin the ass. I joined and felt it was well, a bit disingenous on their part regarding the "testing" of products. I got turned off even further by their hunting show. On this particular instance, a deer showed up on a food plot where a father was hunting with his son. The deer presented a perfect frontal shot at about 80 yards or so, whereas the father said "wait until he turns sideways as the forntal shot is not ethical." Not ethical? what a crock of utter nonsense. jorge

Hmmm i'm a life member, and they don't bother me too much, every now and then, i'll get some little advertisement for some product they're offering, and depending on what it is, i might or might not buy it.. it it's something i'm already in the market for.. and i like the look of what they are wanting me to buy maybe i'll get it, most of the stuff they send me is "try this for 30-days if you don't like it send it back" so far, if i've tried it i have liked it.. just a matter of perspectives...

I HATE, and that ain't a strong enough word, the NAHC! Mad 15 years ago I joined for one year and it didn't take me long to see they were all about trying to sell me something! Mad So after a year I dropped out and for 14 more years they still sent me junk mail. That is until last year, when I finaly put a stop to it and heres how I did it. Big Grin About this time last year they sent me thier latest round of BS junk mail but with a postage paid return envelope in it. I took their membership card, taped it to a brick, put the brick in a box, taped the postage paid envelope to the box and mailed it to them! Big Grin It was rather fun and I haven't heard another word from them. Too bad, I've got a whole stack of bricks just waiting. jump

Way back in college I ponied up for the payment plan and became a life member. Got a nice leather jacket and the magazine for life. Every once in a while I get an offer to buy something or try a product. I enjoy the rang, and for the most part they leave me alone. Maybe there is a different harrassment level for lifers? mark65x55,
That is too funny!! When I get credit card applications in the mail, I trash all of their info. and put a note in explaining how I lost my application and would really like to have the card...they send another and I return it with another note. Some of them are really stupid...takes four or five times before they catch on!

I joined NAHC a few years back...didn't care for it myself.

Jarrod...I'm in the little town called Edmonton and I buy a lot of stuff at Gamaliel Shooting Supply. Maybe I'll catch you there sometime.

Jarrod,

I don't know many of the guys especially by name. I don't get that way very much and try to stock up when I do. I always stop at Collins BBQ!

Does Timmy Stinson (name?) still run an archery shop over there? I used to shoot archery tournaments just outside T-ville several years back.

I joined NAHC a few years ago and after about a year of sending their crap back, got sick and tired of hassle. As others have stated, they're hard to get rid of though!!! I agree with ALL the negative posts!

I've had the same experiences as above. Decent mag..but they'd send me books and crap then ask me to pay for it. Without having asked if I wanted the stuff in the first place. Huge pain in the ass and I never renewed my membership.

Try the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership.

I had a very similar experience. Shortly after I joined, they sent me a book I didn't order. Since I didn't order it, I didn't pay for it. They tried to convince me to pay for it, so I sent it back and told them to cancel my membership. They kept sending me stuff, so I just threw it away, along with their magazine. The only organization that is worse seems to be Buckmasters. I joined for one year five years ago and they still keep calling me to renew my membership. I still get the magazine, which I throw away.
Other than getting stuff in the mail that you didn't order and didn't want, I saw no advantage to belonging to either group.

NAHC is a fucking joke.

They sent me a letter "Do I want a free sample of thier magazine?" I sent it back, sure.

(No I didnt' agree to a subscription) they sent me more mags for months, always demanding payment.

I ignored all thier requests, and eventulaly they stopped.

They are a joke, the magazine sucks, and you would get more info here on AR in an hour than you would form them in a lifetime.

They sent me one of those books that you dont ask for but then they keep sending you letters to pay for it. It's free to mail it back. So finally I sent them a letter that said, I didnt ask you to send me the damn book and the next time you wont get a payment or your book back.
Haven't got another book. Although I have got a paper wanting me to resubscribe. Not going to waste my money.
Heck I will send you a crappy magazine if all of you and your friends will subscribe and then I will take me some nice expensive hunting trips.

I'm joined up as a lefe member a few years ago, they gave me a nice jacket for joining. The mag is ok, I'm not waiting for it every month if you get my drift.

I've never been hassled with them sending me books, they have sent ads for different pieces of equipment, a sent for some but also returned some without a problem.

On a scale of 1 to 10(best)

I give them a 5
