I was thinking of getting a rangefinder to see how long some of my shots are going to be this year (have scouted a couple of spots I am going to set) but didn't want to invest a fortune. thought about the Rangematic's, anybody use these and are they any good?

Like most match-image rangefinders you need good light to work them well. I think I have one lying around somewhere. If I can find it I'll sell it cheap, so make an offer.

I've tried to use the Ranging coincidence brand and never could get them to work well. Same with my hunting buddies. More info and reviews on all types of rangefinders at http://www.jesseshuntingpage.com/rangefinders.html

quote:I have a "Ranging 1,000" and it is the worst piece of crap I've ever bought sober. You can't even SEE 1,000 yards with it, let alone range something. I would challenge one to even range a telephone pole at 500 with it - Good Luck. Did I mention that it is a piece of crap? Every time I kick it from on place on the floor to another, I consider just sending it back and telling them to stuff it. Don't replace it, just stick it. Hate to throw good money after bad though, and won't waste postage. In fact, I think I will throw it away today. Did I mention that it is a piece of crap? Thanks Slingster for the offer, but looks like all of you are in consensus that they're pieces of crap. I guess I will save and try to find a used laser rangefinder. I only need one good to about 400 yards or so, and I probably wouldn't try a shot over 200 yards. Did somebody mention that they are pieces of crap? :-) thanks guys Red
