Just got home from a few wonderful days at Keith Atchesons outfit in central Montana. I won't spill the beans, since there was another AR member hunting there, I'm sure he'll tell all about it!

I *can* say though that I've never seen so many game animals in so short a time. Literally hundreds of pronghorn, some hundred mule deer and the same number of elk, some of which toting very impressive head gear! Add to that whitetails in the yards, partidges, sharptail grouse, pheasant...close to paradise! We had a blast glassing, scoping, stalking...and yes, there was also shooting!

The snow, the wind and the sharp drop in temperature provided an extra challenge.

Mark in SC: don't keep us waiting too long!

Frans,

I had a buddy out from Georgia and the weather change caught him by surprise. He was a bit cold opening day when it was in the 50's. The next few days REALLY tested his mettle. He did get a decent bull and muley though with two shots, so he left pretty happy.

Same thing happened last year too, only it got colder.

Glad to hear you enjoyed MT. If you drove back on I-15 you passed within 1/2 mile of me.

Frank,

Glad to hear your guy got his game!

I did indeed drive back the Lewistown area to Great Falls and then up to Shelby, etc...

On the way down I went via Lethbridge, AB, and then down to Havre. That SE corner of Alberta has some spectacular empty scenery or prairies...no houses, no visible ranches, just some 100 km of prairies. I'm trying to draw an antelope tag there...I guess in four years time I'll have enough priority points :-(

A bit comparable to where we hunted. There were a few butes that were our main target, but South from there the plains seemed to stretch forever!

I can really recommend Keith Atcheson's outfit there, the density of game just blew me off my feet.

Hey Frans, glad to see you made it back Ok. I just drove back from Bozeman myself, via I 15. The roads were a little dicey Sunday morning, but not too bad. Glad to hear you had a good hunt. - Dan
