Just back from an Idaho bear hunt, Hunted with Boulder Creek Outfitters - Tim Craig out of the Whitebird area. Took a Brownish red sow day 1 that I was told was a 5 1/2 - 6 foot bear. She was old with worn out teeth, a little bald etc.

Used a Model 700 Rem 30.06 with 180 TBBC, 1 shot kill.

Hunted over bait using Tink's Smokin Sticks to draw them in - which worked well. The bear came in after 1 1/2 hours with her nose up smelling the sticks.

Ann books for Tim, lots of bears, nice camp, good people Great Hunt.

BigB, that's great to hear. My son and I will be bear hunting with Tim, in early Sept. How long was your shot? what was the terrain like?

NE 450 No 2,

Over Whitebird hill and up to Joseph Plains, The ride up on those hills to a flatlander like me is a bit of a thrill.

Mad Dog,

70 yards, hills with wooded canyons/gullies creeks etc. My stand had a view of several hundred yards of open areas and then the dense woods where the bears come out. Five hunters in camp 4 got bears and all saw bears. He had some photos from the trail cameras of some big ones.
