MStarling, you don't live too far from me, i'm Ravenswood/Ripley area. Someone had mentioned corn is only 7% protein? Maybe so, but it would at least prevent starvation. At 6.00 a hundred pound, it's hard to beat the price. Cattle pellets are 14 percent protein and 5.00 a 50# bag. I bought some of those, because it is double the protein of corn for less than double the price. But, economy will probably dictate mixing it with corn. And even then, i'm sure they'll go through a lot of food. A person can only do as much as they can afford, and that might mean whatever is locally available at the best price, but i do think everyone should try to give a little back. Plinker

I usually feed corn, soy beans, or whatever else they'll eat to get them through if winter looks to be bad. I only 'bait' in one sight that I hunt, and that is in the urban area. It is really not hunting, more appropriately, thinning the herd. But the residents and rangers want the bowhunters to do whatever they can to thin the herd. Plus, baiting is legal in Ohio. This winter, since alfalfa cubes are easy to come by, I'll use those with corn and beans and sweet feed. I'll do this right up through Feb.
