Anyone have personal knowledge of a quality Montana elk outfitter or guide? I've drawn combo non-resident elk/deer tags, with the expectation I'd do my annual Powder River mule deer hunt, but rather than let the elk tag go to waste....? Not enough elk where I hunt deer in SE Montana to bother with that there.

I'd be rifle hunting. Schedule is fairly flexible, but I don't have enough time at any one stretch to do a completely solo scout of public land prior to the hunt- hence need a little direction. Could do either drop off or outfitted (though would need a pack horse to get it out if > a few miles from a road) or fully guided. Willing to back pack, including carry quarters (at least for a few miles).

Looking for a nice, representative bull. Of course, a chance at a great trophy would be nice too. Cost, within reason, is not too restricted.

Appreciate any insights and recommendations.
