I had the opportunity to turkey hunt on a large (6000 acre) ranch near Cherokee, Texas last week. I drove up from Houston in the morning and went out in the afternoon. Saw a couple of jakes and several hens, but no large gobblers. I was getting ready to head back to the house at around 6PM (really late) when a large gobbler came into view. I called him in to about 35 yards and finally got a clean shot on him from the blind. 10 1/2 inch beard with spurs over 1 inch long. This ranch is unbelievable - here are a few shots of the game room: Shotgun: Benelli SBE (first generation) Shotshell: 3 1/2 #5 hevi shot Jim | ||
