Further to your 'Back to basics' post, I'm pretty sure that Reeves (01296 748741) do a Loden roesack that uses toggles rather than buckles so is silent in use, it appears to be very high quality.

regards,
Eric.

Eric,

Thankyou, I have rung and had one described to me which sounds perfect. I will try and see it in the flesh asap.

What is a roesack?

Hmmm...I just looked at some pictures on the internet at the roe deer. I guess the roesack is to carry the deer back. Is it a pack like thing with shoulder straps?

Terry,

You're correct. A Roe sack is pretty much a low tech canvas or loden frameless rucksack.
The leather straps ect tend to be tied on as opposed to stitched on the more traditional models and they usually have a removeable waterproof bag/liner to stop the whole thing get blood soaked. Mine is about 28" wide and about 22" deep...it will take two Roe does with ease...

Regards,

Peter
