I inherited a Winchester Model 94 Buffalo Bill Commemorative Carbine. My father bought it for me at least 20 years ago and it has been left as new in the box since then. Never fired or even the action cycled to my knowledge. I don't know what to do with it. Should I shoot it? Hunt white tail with it. Keep it in the box forever .... Any ideas?

but seriously...I'd use it...what good is it gonna do sitting in a box somewhere? I suppose you could hang it on the mantle, or something, but that'd be a waste of a perfectly good rifle...*sad day* Take it out, be careful w/ it, and USE IT.

WyoMan, If you are a Collector, keep it in the box. If you are a Shooter, like Me,shoot it. One of my fvorite hunters is an 1879 Springfield Carbine. Another is an 1894 Springfield, with a 4 digit serial number. A favorite range rifle is the H&H Officer's Model Centinnial M1873,with a low serial number. I know that shooting has somewhat devalued these rifles, but I don't plan on selling them, anyway. Good luck, Frank

Ditto on what Franke said. I started collecting with some idea that some day my firearms would be worth much more than what I paid for them. Several years later, I realized that when that time comes, I would rather have the memory of shooting and hunting with them than the little bit of extra money a mint condition firearm would bring.

I've got a Antlered Game Mod 94 hanging above the mantle. Don't have much use for it so what the heck. I did observe a Canadian in one of Eastman's hunting videos using one for whitetails so people do hunt with em. sure-shot
Gee almost sounds like there is a pattern here. Thanks for all the input. I still have a very hard time thinking of even cycling the action, but I would never sell it. Hmmmmm what a perdicament.

My philosphy is that I will never own a gun I do not shoot. So shoot it or sell it. But if my Dad bought it for me, I would shoot it and pass it on to my son.
One of my old bosses used to say that the only thing better than a rosewood briefcase was being able to use it and beat it around in the airports without worrying about it.
