I have 3 boxes of Herter's 265gr. round nose bullets that I want to load in my 338 Win. Mag. I think they would be great for hunting bear over bait. Has anyone ever used these bullets? If you have, what did you think of them? Does anyone have any load data for this weight bullet? I looked in my manuals and all I could find was for the normal 200gr., 210gr., 225gr. and the 250gr. Then in an old Pacific manual I was able to find data for 275gr. bullets but nothing for 265's.

Use the starting load data for the 275 and work up. Never used the 265 bullet weight, but have used the 275 Speer when they were still making them.

I used those Herter's 265 gr MANY MOONS ago, and found them to be a bit soft. they have a LOT of lead exposed, and expand rapidly.

GREAT for Close range shots on Deer etc, but not my choice for a Elk or Moose.

Start with 275 gr loads and work from there.
