On another thread the question was asked how a non resident can best support the opposition to the bear baiting, trapping, and use of hounds referendum that the antis have gotten on the upcoming November ballot. I am not a bear hunt outfitter, or a bear hunter, fwiw. If you oppose this ballot initiative, you can make a contribution to the Maine Professional Guides Association. Indicate that you want the funds dedicated to preserving Maine's existing bear hunting. MPGA has a website that should detail address, etc. If MPGA can really get out the vote, then another good result is that many voters that go and vote against this horrible plan will also vote at the same time against politicians on the ballot that are anti hunting and anti second amendment. Thank you very much. Guy

Thanks, I will pursue this. I've already donated to NTA - Nat'l. Trappers Association toward their work on this cause. Update- - Online donation was a no-go, site wouldn't work. I'm sending a check in the a.m. These bans need to stop! I can almost understand NJ banning legholds ( go figure) , but CO? And now maybe Maine!? Every $ helps...

I've just suggested on another related thread that we might find it more effective to keep eveything about this issue on one thread.

Joester, Thank you very much. We all appreciate your support. Another organization taking donations to fight for bear hunting in Maine is the Sportsmans Alliance of Maine. SAM actually has an online fundraising raffle on its website, with three different Maine bear hunts being offered as prizes. Thank you to all the support.
