This year has definitely been tough as far as seeing bucks goes. I've hunted about 3 days a week since the first of Oct and all I've seen is 3 small bucks , a 7pt(which I slamed Thanksgiving day), and this 8pt. Finally, I crossed paths w/ a pretty good buck this season. Friday Morning at 7:45am two doe same running out of the neighbors property. I figured a pre-rut buck may have pushed them even though the rut usually isn't until Christmas in that area. After about 15 min of waiting I figured they must have just been spooked then, I heard Buuuuuuu and there he was. The does had come across the property line and clipped the end of my shooting lane which I figured he would do as well but, he wasn't following their exact path. The property line is a private dirt road and he just took off walking quickly down the road away from me and almost past my shooting lane in that direction. As he neared the end of my shooting lane I grabbed "The Can" and let out a bleat. He stopped and looked straight at me through the brush in between us. I let out another bleat from "The Can" and he couldn't stand it, he had to come and find that doe. He crossed into our propperty and clipped the end of my shooting lane where he picked up the scent of those two does and before he exited my lane I busted him through the base of the neck and out the off side shoulder. He dropped at the shot. The 160 Accubond fired at 3060 from my 7RM did well. It entered the base of the neck, busted the neck bone, got into the front of the vitals, and exited through the center of the offside shoulder. Exit was about 1/2" w/ no bullet recovery. This Cropland buck didn't miss too many meals this season as he tipped the scales at 240lbs(live weight). Ya'll have a good one, Reloader

Nice deer! 160gr accubonds and a 7RM go together like peanut butter and jelly. The three critters I've killed this year makes... 11 animals with Accubonds to date. BTW the 200gr accubond out of a 338-06 is pretty deadly on elk. Here is my MT buck, shot through the neck where it meets the shoulder. Jellied the spine, and exited leaving my taxidermist a hole the size of a quarter to fix.

Didn't you have a post on killing an elk a few weeks ago also. Are you killing these with that ADL or another rifle? "Science only goes so far then God takes over."

Yeah Jarrod, Using that cheap ole' ADL that I took the Bull and Mulie buck w/ a few weeks back. I've taken piles of game w/ that rifle. I have another much nicer 7RM and I'm putting together an A-Bolt in 7RM but that ole' ADL just sort of clings to me when I go to the safe. It's glassed into an HS stock and has a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 on top in Leupie rings. The rifle actually shoots quite well. Last time I shot for groups w/ the 160ABs I had three through a jagged hole at 100 and it was still printing around an inch at 200. I had it zeroed at 250 this season due to going out West but, next season I think I'll bring it back down to a 200 yard zero. The 160 AB shoot quite flat for a .284 bullet. I may use the 140 ABs in that rifle next year for Mulies to see how they perform as the past few times I've ran a few through the rifle they grouped quite well. Have a Good One Reloader

Now there you go. You know them cheap ole ADL's won't kill nuttin. Dontcha know em things are junk. Is yours a synthetic stocked or wood stocked? My 7mag ADL I traded to about 4 days before season and didn't really hunt all that hard. Between my nephew, dad and I it killed five deer this season all one shot kills. It is also shooting 1/2 groups. Darn ole cheap guns. Congratulations on the 2 bucks and the Bull. "Science only goes so far then God takes over."

Congrats on taking another nice buck. I really like the Accubonds as well and have been impressed with their performance. I'm using the 7mm, 140 grain version and the 150 grainer in .30 caliber. Now if the 6.5 offering would just make its way to the stores' shelves... Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri

Hey Reloader, Congratulations on a really fine Buck and a great Hunt. Always nice when you can get them to come toward you when they originally intended to go elsewhere. I thought one of your close and personal buddies () "jorge" told everyone on the Reloading Board that the Accubonds couldn't kill a thing? And here you go making him out to be a fool. Imagine that!

Yeah, I know, I'm really surprised that the bolt didn't fall off and the trigger freeze up . On the stock note, it's glassed into a HS syn.
Thanks Bobby. I'm starting to like them quite well too. My hunting Buds and I have taken approx 30-40 animals so far from Elk, Mulies, Whitetail, Boar, coyotes, and bobcats and they haven't let one of us down yet. Just got a call from one of my buds that took his wife Mulie hunting and they slammed two mulies and a Whitetail w/ some of the ABs I loaded for them, one of the mulies was in the 300lb range.
SHHHHHHHH!, We'll just have to keep these great reports on the ABs to ourselves... Ya'll have a good one, Reloader
