Kimber 84M! I just got back from a Wyoming antelope hunt. I left the Sakos at home and brought my 84M in 7-08 with Leupold 2.5-8. It was sure a pleasure to carry. Two shots, two antelope. FWIW, both shots were about 350 yards using 140 grain NBTs over 48.5 grains of RL 19. It just so happens that they also make them in 308.

Cycle the bolt on a Sako while holding it on target....game over!!

"Help" is more like it if your jumped by a dangerous animal and you short stroke the bolt. I am refering to the guide in AK who got his legs and hand broken by a bear when his Sako jammed.

Sako's are excellent rifles but when you said "game over" that's what I thought of.

Triggerhappy,

What LOP do you want? Many factory rifles like the Kimber mentioned are about 13 2/3". It's hard to add length. A way to do it is to get one with a synthetic stock. Add to the stock and then paint the stock again.

Keep in mind that many entry level factory stocks are junk. This is not true of the Kimber Montana stock.

Tikka makes a great out of the box rifle. Great trigger, very accurate, and reasonably priced. Pick your caliber and go get dinner!

Well

Why not buy a used winchester pre 64 or commercial mauser 98 ? I would pick 7X57 or 270 rather than a 308

Cheers

Sako is the least likely of the bolt actions that are not CRF to jam. Since he wants to hunt deer, this is the one.
