my son and i will be out again for the 3rd time trying to score on the elusive wapiti. we will be going on national forest land. this will be a new area, but my friend shot a rag horn last year in this area. last week he took a friend out and they spotted a 5x5 bull 200 yds out. his friend was trying to get his bipod set up and didn't get a shot. later that day, they saw a couple cows and an rag horn, which he shot at, but missed.

hopefully, we will see something. the 5x5 would be nice since neither of us have shot a wapiti. since my son is 14, i'd give him first crack. there is nothing like seeing that grin on his face after shooting big game. also, since this is the last week of hunting, cows are fair game. if we see something and aim small, we should have meat in the freezer.

this was his first buck shot last year. hopefully i'll post a picture of him with a wapiti.
